Can I Quote You

For the first week of this blog we have been looking at the power of ideas and what they mean to us individually and corporately. We have learned that ideas happen best when they are given time and space. As parents and a school we need to purposefully create that time and space for ourselves and for our children. The ability to take an idea, nurture it, and make it happen is a skill that we need to foster in our kids as it is a crucial 21st century skill.

Today I am posting quotes from my time researching and reading about the power of ideas. Here are ones that have stood out to me and have made it into my quote book:

“There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.” —Victor Hugo

“Good ideas are common, what’s uncommon are people who’ll work hard enough to bring them about.” —Ashleigh Brilliant

“Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not that one has better abilities or ideas, but instead the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk — and to act.” —Andre Malraux

“Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it who makes a difference”. —Nolan Bushnell

“Believe in something larger than yourself. …Get involved in the big ideas of your time.” —Barbara Bush

“Don’t be afraid of new ideas. Be afraid of old ideas. They keep you where you are and stop you from growing and moving forward. Concentrate on where you want to go, not on what you fear.” —Anthony Robbins
